our mission

We strive to cultivate a forum for discussing pop culture and its history both in a critical and appraising light.

letter from the editors

Velociriot was conceived of by Amanda and Samantha, two best friends who wanted to focus on creating a blogging project together. That initial idea transformed into this website, where the two of us post on a consistent basis about media, culture, politics, and more. There will be daily, weekly and monthly features, as well as various posts that analyze certain aspects of our society or just introduce things that we like and care about to our readers. Whether we’re focusing on Twitter accounts that we think you should check out, gossip rags that are getting it all wrong, or food and drink recipes that will make your stomach grumble, we’ll always bring the most up-to-date, relevant and interesting content to the web that we can find.

Along the way, we’ll be inviting friends and peers to contribute their thoughts to the site, interviewing various people whose views align with our mission statement, and improving the site on a daily basis. We’re always open to suggestions for topics to cover or things to include, so feel free to email us with any comments, concerns, or questions. (You can find our personal emails on the staff page.) Once in a while, we’ll check in on a more personal level to let readers know what’s going on in our lives and with the site, so that there’s as much open discussion as possible.

Please follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook. We’ll be updating both regularly with posts as well as links and other useful tidbits that we pick up along the way. Thanks for visiting Velociriot and we hope you enjoy your stay!

We’re still rioting, years after riot grrrl first launched, and velociraptors are badass.
